Synopsis:

“A Yes to the World” is a short documentary that follows the spiritual and emotional journey of young people from around the globe as they gather in Panama for World Youth Day, inspired by the Virgin Mary’s brave and generous response to God: “Let it be done to me according to your word.” (Luke 1:38)

Through intimate interviews, vibrant scenes of cultural exchange, prayer, and celebration, the film captures the heartbeat of a generation searching for purpose and ready to serve. Guided by the Pope’s invitation to listen, to dream, and to say “yes,” the documentary reflects on themes of vocation, identity, joy, and transformation.

Set against the colorful and welcoming backdrop of Panama, this film is not just about an event — it’s about a movement of young hearts responding to a higher call, and discovering that true happiness begins when we give ourselves in love and service to others.

Director’s Statement

As a director, I was deeply moved by the message behind World Youth Day in Panama — the idea that a single, courageous “yes” can open the door to transformation, purpose, and joy.

I wanted to go beyond the large crowds and celebratory moments. I wanted to tell the quiet, personal stories of young people who traveled from different corners of the world with hearts full of questions and left with a sense of calling. Their reflections, their prayers, and their joy became the emotional core of this film.

This project is a portrait of faith in motion — of how spirituality and service can unite thousands across cultures, languages, and borders. It’s not just about Panama; it’s about the courage to say yes, wherever you are.

Cameraman’s Statement

Filming A Yes to the World was an unforgettable experience. The energy in Panama was electric — streets alive with song, color, and flags from every continent. But what moved me most were the moments of silence: a tear during prayer, a smile exchanged in passing, a hand on a shoulder during Mass.

As a cameraman, I focused on capturing emotion through details — the hands raised in worship, the worn-out shoes of pilgrims who had walked miles, the early morning light shining through cathedral windows. Every shot was a piece of the story: a mosaic of young faith, hope, and unity.

This film is about human connection, and I feel honored to have helped bring those moments to the screen.
